Delaware House passes bill to prohibit reverse keyword warrants

Privacy Bee Founder and CEO Harry Maugans joined Judayah Murray on FOX 29 Philadelphia Live to discuss reverse keyword warrants and the digital privacy concerns surrounding their use.

Unlike a traditional warrant focused on a known person, a reverse keyword warrant can request information about people who searched for a particular word or phrase. Harry explained how these broad searches can pull individuals into an investigation based on their digital activity rather than evidence connecting them to a specific crime.

The segment followed the Delaware House’s passage of House Bill 145, legislation intended to restrict the use of reverse keyword warrants. At the time of the broadcast, the bill had passed the House and was headed to the Delaware Senate for consideration.
