Controversy over license plate reader cameras

FOX 13 Tampa Bay featured Privacy Bee founder and CEO Harry Maugans in a report about damaged Flock license plate reader cameras and growing concerns about surveillance oversight in St. Petersburg and Sarasota.

Maugans discussed the risks created when surveillance technology is misused for personal purposes. He encouraged concerned residents to question elected leaders and the officials responsible for approving Flock camera contracts instead of damaging the devices.

The report examines the balance between public safety and personal privacy as communities consider how automated license plate reader data is collected, accessed, and governed.

Understanding those privacy questions also means looking at what the data itself can reveal. A license plate may be where a Flock scan starts, but it’s not where the privacy story ends. See how Flock tracking works, what it can reveal, and what you can do about it at DeFlock.com
