Cyber Security Gaps Lead to U.S. Water System Hacks

Harry Maugans, founder and CEO of Privacy Bee, joined LiveNOW from FOX anchor Austin Westfall to discuss a wave of cyberattacks against municipal water systems across at least a dozen states.

Attackers targeted internet-facing programmable logic controllers, the industrial equipment that regulates water treatment and distribution. Reported activity included changing administrative passwords, manipulating water pressure, and locking operators out of the systems they are responsible for running.

The segment focused on why infrastructure of this kind remains exposed. Equipment built for closed industrial networks is increasingly reachable from the Internet, often with default credentials and little monitoring, which turns a maintenance convenience into an entry point.
